This privacy policy explains how the Life Tracker mobile app for Android and iOS (called "Życiomierz" in Polish, hereafter the "App") handles your data. The App is developed and provided free of charge by Michał Karpiuk, an individual developer based in Poland (hereafter "I" or "the Developer"), who is the controller of your personal data within the meaning of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Actions you define (their names, order, archived state and the time they were created or changed) and events you record (their type, start and end time, and any notes you write). Without an account this data is stored only in a database on your device. When you are signed in, it is also stored in Google Cloud Firestore and synchronised between your devices.
Notes are free text. Please do not put information in them that you do not want stored with the service providers listed below, such as health details you would rather keep only on your device.
You can sign in with Google, with Apple (on iOS) or with an e-mail address and password. The App then processes:
Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and are never visible to the Developer.
If you grant access, the App reads the date and time of photos in your gallery to show the ones taken while an event was going on. The photos stay where they are: the App does not upload, copy, change or delete them, and nothing about them leaves your device. You can withdraw access in your device's system settings at any time.
The App uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports (the error, the state of the App at the time, device model, operating system version, App version and an installation identifier). You can switch this off with "Send crash reports" in the App's Settings.
The App uses Google Analytics for Firebase and Firebase Performance Monitoring. They collect technical, pseudonymous information such as app opens, screens viewed, session length, app performance, device and operating system type, approximate country derived from the IP address, and an app instance identifier. This data is used only to understand how the App is used and to improve it. It is not used for advertising.
The App uses Firebase Remote Config to download its settings and feature flags from Firebase, so that a feature can be switched on or off without a new release. To fetch them, the App sends a Firebase installation identifier together with basic technical data (App version, operating system version, device language). Remote Config sends nothing about your records or your account.
"Export data" creates a file with your data on your device. The App does not send that file anywhere; where it goes is up to you.
The Developer does not sell or rent your data and does not share it with anyone for their own purposes. The App relies on these service providers, which process data on the Developer's behalf:
Google may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Such transfers are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
Data may also be disclosed where the law requires it, for example in response to a lawful request from a public authority.
In the App, open Settings and choose "Delete account". This deletes your Firebase account, all data synchronised to the cloud, and the data stored on the device.
If you no longer have the App installed, you can ask for deletion by e-mail at karpiuk.mich@gmail.com, sending the message from the address linked to your account. The account and all synchronised data will be deleted within 30 days.
If you never signed in, all your data is on your device only; uninstalling the App removes it.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict its processing, to object to processing based on legitimate interest, and to data portability (you can use "Export data" or ask by e-mail). To use any of these rights, write to karpiuk.mich@gmail.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. In Poland this is the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (Prezes Urzędu Ochrony Danych Osobowych, ul. Stawki 2, 00-193 Warszawa, uodo.gov.pl).
Data sent between the App and Firebase is encrypted in transit. Access to your synchronised data in Firestore is restricted to your own account by security rules. As the operator of the service, the Developer has administrative access to the database and uses it only to maintain the service or when you ask for help. No system is completely secure, but the Developer takes reasonable measures to protect your data.
The App is not directed to children under 16, and the Developer does not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided personal data, contact the Developer and it will be deleted.
This policy may change as the App changes. The current version is always available on this page, with its effective date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced in the App.
